Glenglassaugh Distillery, at the east end of the beautiful Sandend Bay, was founded by Col. James Moir in 1875. He quickly established a reputation for making a quality whisky and the company prospered.  It was closed in 1986 but resumed production in 2008.

This is the first chance for you to try whisky produced by the recently re-opened Glenglassaugh Distillery.  It’s fascinating to see a distillery redefining itself, while still holding true to its original character.  I personally haven’t tasted Glenglassaugh whisky produced before their closure in 1986 (yes you can still buy vintage Glenglassaugh whisky, visit whiskygalore.co.nz)  but I was interested in tasting this to find out what potential it has for the future.  I’m not going to tell you how good it is but I would highly recommend you try this and decide for yourself.
